The Secrets to a Profitable Website.

If you have read any of my material you already know how I feel about web design. It doesn’t have to cost you a fortune to have a site built and it doesn’t have to be the prettiest site on the web… but it does have to sell.
Ideally, that means it must be built in a such a manner that the search engines will find it and rank it highly for search terms that are relevant to your business. More importantly, it is essential that your site educate your visitors about what you do and build your credibility automatically so you don’t have to do this yourself. Finally, it must also convert your visitors to either paying customers (if you sell your products online) or qualified sales leads (if you sell products or services offline).
Let’s make this clear. If your site doesn’t at least do the last two of the three things above – and do them well – it isn’t really worth having a site. If it doesn’t get visitors it is a poor investment. If it doesn’t convert visitors to customers it is a poor investment.
Does that mean it is impossible? Not at all. In fact, for most small businesses operating in a local market it is very easy to dominate your competition in the search engines. And when you structure your site properly and include the key components (the ability to capture leads and automatic follow-up) you’ll be miles ahead of your competition.
